Just Plain Fun

I know, I know. . . it’s been forever since I’ve posted anything on Jenito.com. And then I go an make this huge change! Let me just sum it up as fast as I can.
The amount of support I received while developing MicroTale was. . . incredible! It was a huge growing experience in my life, and I am so thankful for everyone that made it possible! Four people/groups in particular come to mind, and I’d like to take a moment to mention all of them. First, a close friend I shall simply refer to as “The Movie Man” who gave me TONS of support and helped me every step of the way. Second, Robby of 8-Bit MMO fame, who both developed an awesome game and sent some people my way! Third, Paul Bury of Family Friendly Gaming who has always been supportive of Jenito and written terrific reviews for us throughout the years. And finally, everyone over at Desura, an incredible software sharing platform that has an excellent team behind it.
All of that said, sales for MicroTale were significantly below what I had hoped. Is that probably because I failed to create an amazing game? Quite possible! The lack of an update didn’t help either. But frankly, my life just started taking an entirely new direction after MicroTale was released, and suddenly time to work on something like that was. . . very small. Obviously, I’m just now getting around to it! XD
Some people do know and some people don’t, but Jenito was originally started as a Christian company to develop a game called The Miffets, which was a Christian title in which the main character foughts cheeky little monsters who had taken the Bible and hidden it across a fantasy world. The player had to get it back and defeat “Jimbean,” the great evil villain. It was a huge amount of fun, and frankly I still love playing it even though The Miffets was discontinued years ago. After that, Jenito slowly morphed into something I just kinda did for fun in the hopes to make some extra cash. MicroTale was the great brainchild of that. Frankly, MicroTale is the best game I have ever developed on my own in terms of scope, size, and sheer technical prowess. As for what I really like. . . well, The Miffets is still what I would consider my greatest work.
Good grief, I’m waxing eloquent. After MicroTale I shortly considered starting a new project called EIE. It would have been fun, and I don’t know what there isn’t a place for it somewhere in the future. But since May 1st (MicroTale’s release date) I’ve started a music studio, taken up a part time job, and become a Children’s Pastor. Clearly, things are busy and very different from making video games. So I just won’t be able to be as involved as I used to.
That said, I love making games! I’m not certain what will be the next move. But some things I do know are. . .
1. I want to make games again!
2. I’m going to be going in a Christian direction again
3. That doesn’t mean they won’t be fun
4. Jenito.com has to be split between gaming and my music business
5. I’ve got an artist onboard now and would like to start developing sometime this Fall (2013)
What else is there to say? Again, thank you everyone for your support. I’m sorry that the new website isn’t as flashy as the last one, but I simply don’t have the time to make something extravagant right now. More to come soon!
